Trail Running

Trail running can include anything from good level dirt roads to clambering up muddy rocky hillsides.  We have rated our races based on the classification used by the Bold Coast Runners:

1= mostly great footing, relatively flat - Surry Forest 5K/10K Blue Hill

2= good footing, some climbs - Moosehorn Ghost Run, Baring; FBC Autumn Trail Race, Orland

3= ok footing, trail is runable 90-100% of the time - Bad Little Trail Run, Machias; Downeast Lakes Land Trust 5 Miler, Grand Lake Stream

4= technical footing (roots, rocks, mud), some hills, - Wildlands Run, Orland

5= very technical, hilly to steep climbs, technical footing - no races in our series, yet...
